WE only became aware of this cat’s presence in our back yard when Emric went into full INTRUDER ALERT mode, including scratching at the window and yowling like a banshee. The kitty was just sitting there minding his own business while our two cats went nuts inside the bedroom. I told Ev about him and she’s now putting food out for him every morning. We haven’t actually adopted him (yet) as he’s very skittish and runs away whenever I approach him, which is odd as he’s one of the few mammals on the planet that doesn’t have a restraining order on me.
People have suggested various names for him — Sponger from me, Outdoor Baby and Furrz Ballz from Ev (yeah, I know) and Sneaky Ninja from Justin. So I decided to combine a couple — hence Sponja.
It must be said, though, Sponja does have some advantages over Emric, including (but not limited to) the following:
1. Not vomiting everywhere.
2. Not chasing Iestyn around the house at 4am.
3. Not trying to have sex with Iestyn at 5am.
4. Not eating every cable in sight. To be fair, since we moved in Emric hasn’t actually eaten any cables. But he will. Oh yes, he will.
So after two weeks of feeding Sponja, I followed him back to where he lives (our neighbour’s shed) only to find that not only is he a she, he’s also a mum:
Ah. What to do? We have no idea if our neighbour, who’s 90, has any idea he’s got a new mother and three kittens (one’s hidden behind Sponja) living in his shed. Ev’s suggested going around to ask him and seeing if we can give the cats to a shelter, so we’re going to try that tonight. Stay posted…

Oh my goodness those kittens are so precious! Definitely try to get them spayed/neutered.
Wait, I want! I count three kittens (tuxedo, grey stripy, whitey).
oh gawd — kitten season! too cute. i hope you get theme fixed? you want to start a fund? i will donate a few dollars…
WONDERFUL post!
