You are powerless against the cute

MR FEZZIWIG continues to be the most adorable thing in the universe. He’s been to the vet and had a checkup and there’s nothing wrong with him. Ev and me have decided to keep him instead of putting him up for adoption because 1) we saved his life and 2) just look at him. Although this means going up to five cats (or possibly down to four if Emric pukes on the bathroom rug again) we feel it’s worth it to give him a safe home.

There are some fun and games with having so young a kitten, […]

Squeaker would like to make an announcement

AFTER much intense discussion between me and Ev, and after she pointed out that I’d named Sponja, Frosty, Emric, Iestyn and Snowy, we’ve decided to change Squeaker’s name to Mr […]

And now we have five

SAY hello to Squeaker, the latest addition to our cat sanctuary home. Ev called me on the freeway because she could hear a kitten meowing non-stop in our neighbour Richard’s shed, the same one that used to house Sponja’s offspring. I arrived home to have a torch shoved in my hand and was ordered to climb through our broken fence into Richard’s garden to rescue the little sod (the kitten, not Richard). Hoping our neighbour was a) a heavy sleeper and b) not armed I found Squeaker trapped in a cardboard box, unable to get out. Once I’d moved some stuff […]

Whore house

BEGONE, FOUL STRUMPET!

WITH Sponja up the spout* again, Ev decided that she needed somewhere safe to stay when she pops her sprogs (Sponja, not Ev). So while on a shopping trip to Costco she picked up a little dog/cat house and then left me to put it together this morning, citing “having to leave for work” as her ridiculous excuse for not helping.

*Ev hates this phrase, but probably not as much as I hate having my nipples slapped while I’m trying to read.

Camera gear: $2,000. Photo’s value: $0.

Here it is, boxed and ready to be assembled by the […]

Those cats were fast as lightning

It was inevitable, really

POWERLESS in the face of such overwhelming cuteness, we’re now seriously considering keeping both Frosty (top) and Snowy. This would mean going up to four cats but the house is big enough, we can afford the food, Emric needs company in his old age (he’s, er, 6) and… bugger it, who am I kidding? Just look at those little faces. How can we resist?

So today we took them to get their vaccinations which involved a trip to Garden Grove and a lot of hanging around in a noisy waiting room. Frosty and Snowy — especially Snowy — were terrified (to be honest, Snowy is in […]

Operation Kitten Catch 2011

Frosty (or Snowy), Boots, and Snowy (or Frosty)

WE HAVE the last three of Sponja’s kittens. I managed to trap them all tonight in the space of about half an hour. They’re all safe and well and living it up in our bathroom, which has a post-it on the door saying “DO NOT USE” in case I forget they’re there when I go for a slash at 7am. Ev managed to get their flea meds on them after having to chase Boots and Frosty (or Snowy) around her office when they clawed their way out of our grip. We’re […]

They mostly come out at night. Mostly.

SPONJA and her three remaining kittens — Boots, Frosty and Snowy — are living the high life in our back yard. We are going to capture them and put them up for adoption soon. […]

Milking this a bit (pun intended)

BUT it’s just too much of an “awwwwww…” moment to go […]
