THE 47th annual Congressional Cup Yacht Race kicked off on Tuesday just off the pier outside our apartment building. Apparently it’s the most prestigious yacht race in America, which I have to admit amazed me because it was being held just off the pier outside our apartment building and not, say, in Newport Beach or Monaco. Anyway, after taking pics of the bird bath I trod the boards of the pier to take some […]
IT’S not every day you get to see two girls taking a shower in broad daylight on a busy street. They were there to promote PETA’s push for veganism to help water conservation. Apparently, every pound of meat you eat equates to six months of showers, meaning I owe myself roughly 16 showers a week. Yesterday they were in Hollywood, but today they showed up on Second Street so I had to go. But enough of the fat Welsh bloke and on with the show!
Ooo, and I took the Flip:

THE weather’s atrocious today, so off to the beach I went to take some pics. It’s much more interesting then when it’s bright and sunny. Click for the full-size image.
Looks like they’re going to have to cancel the yacht race that’s supposed to be happening […]
WE’VE both wanted to hire a Duffy boat for ages, and for a birthday surprise Ev organised a trip around the bay for me*. A Duffy boat is a little electric vessel that only does three miles per hour (think of it as the PT Cruiser of the seas) and is designed to be gently piloted around the calm waters of Los Alomitos Bay and not the open ocean, thus destroying my plans for making a drugs/hookers run to Mexico.
Here’s our trusty boat, which I immediately christened RMS Titanic. Ev volunteered to drive so I could take pics and […]
UPDATE: CBS2.com is using one of my photos on its report! Shit yeah!
UPDATE 2: It turns out the guy who was shot was holding a water nozzle, not a gun.
WE HEARD the sirens earlier this evening — loads of them — all heading down Ocean Boulevard. After what seemed like the 25th police car went by we decided to grab the camera and head out for a look.
Ocean was blocked off so we parked in the beach car park and walked the rest of the way.
That’s a lot of police cars. On the way we asked a guy what was happening. He told us he’d […]
NO, NOT me. I just took some […]
MY MAIN memory of this place is the terrifying realisation that there were cobwebs everywhere. Big ugly webs, too, full of bits of plants and dust. Apart from that, El Dorado Regional Park is not only very pretty but also surprisingly quiet given it’s bordered by the 605 freeway. And now the weather’s taken a turn for the better I want to go back and get more pics as the autumn sets in, although I doubt it’ll be as good as Flynn’s […]
THERE was a pretty horrific smash near us on the Peninsula last night. Two cars which may have been racing crashed, one into the Peninsula sign. The Mustang’s three passengers were thrown from the car and killed and the driver is in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the other car, a Ford Taurus, legged it and were picked up near our apartment building.
Ev saw all the police and fire lights when she came home from a friend’s at about midnight (I stayed home to catch up on my horror-movie watching). Shame I didn’t go as I’d doubtless have had […]
LOTS of ‘em.
The bald head and bare feet behind the shitty Toyota belong to one of four douchenozzles who decided to have a punch-up on the beach. Duh. One resisted arrest and ended up in the back of the police cruiser, the others cuffed and taken downtown. Hopefully they were subjected to a thorough Rodney King-style going over in a darkened […]
