I’VE always been interested in taking things apart. When I was a little Mut I’d nick one of my dad’s screwdrivers and take the handles off the doors in our house in Tonteg, once memorably trapping my mum in the bathroom while my then-three-year-old sis had a screaming fit downstairs. After doors I moved on to watches and clocks — including the one my granddad received when he retired from the Fire Brigade (I managed to get it back together with only five screws and a spring left over) — then remote controls, stereos, my parents’ Instamatic camera, and pretty much anything else I could […] POLPERRO is one of those little Cornish fishing villages that can only be described as “quaint”. It’s one of those places which is a maze of narrow twisty streets that lead to a beautiful harbour. Unfortunately it can also be described as “packed with tourists” but me and Ev braved the winding roads and crammed car park to have a look around. We’d already seen the place in 2003 and it had a big impact on us — both of us have wanted to go back for ages, so we took the opportunity and set off. After wandering the village we took a boat […] WE ONLY ended up in Tenby thanks to me getting hopelessly lost in the wilds of west Wales. After driving all over the shop for something like five hours thanks to Google Maps’ directions and seemingly never-ending roadworks, I gave up on my initial plan of finding this place to buy a wall plaque for the house (it’s the last from bottom) and headed for the coast. This change of plan came as something of a surprise to my navigator as she’d been asleep for most of the trip. Apparently it’s the most prestigious yacht race in America, which I have to admit amazed me because it was being held just off the pier outside our apartment building and not, say, in Newport Beach or Monaco. Anyway, after taking pics of the bird bath I trod the boards of the pier to take some […] IT’S not every day you get to see two girls taking a shower in broad daylight on a busy street. They were there to promote PETA’s push for veganism to help water conservation. Apparently, every pound of meat you eat equates to six months of showers, meaning I owe myself roughly 16 showers a week. Yesterday they were in Hollywood, but today they showed up on Second Street so I had to go. But enough of the fat Welsh bloke and on with the show!
