IN ANOTHER one of those instances where I just want a comet to hit this misbegotten planet and take us all out once and for all, the Michigan state senate has passed a bill that effectively gives schoolkids carte blanche to bully gay classmates as long as  —  wait for it  —  they can provide a moral or religious reason for the bullying. In other words, you can now safely kick the shit out of a gay kid, quote Leviticus 20:13, and get away with it.
