The Painting Of The Mut

WHEN I told Siân she could paint my face when I came over she was dead excited. So I went a step fur­ther and told her she could paint my head, too. After giv­ing myself a No1 buzzcut on Fri­day before the flight, I got hold of dad’s razor and fin­ished the job this after­noon. Siân watched me shave my hair off, lead­ing to this exchange:

Siân: “Are razors dan­ger­ous?”

Me: “Yes, you have to be care­ful with them.”

Siân: “We need an adult to help us.”

Me: “…”

THE only way life could be bet­ter would be if Ev was here. The flight was great as I man­aged to sleep for 7½ hours of it, the drive back with Paul was good, see­ing the fam­ily was awe­some and hear­ing Siân say, “I’m Uncle Matthew’s little boo­boo” was one of those moments where you wanted time to stop.
