The annual torture

THE 2011 Six Nations kicks off on Friday, with Wales taking on England at home in the Millennium Stadium. My sis, her boyfriend, our cousin and her kid are all going (that’s two Welsh, one Scot, one English) so it should make for an interesting trip home depending on who wins. As per usual, here’s my preview of Wales’ games:

Feb 4 : England at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

Can we? Will we? All that’s definite about Wales playing England is that by the end of it I’ll have screamed myself hoarse (depending, of course, that I can actually listen to it on […]

Dear Wales...

In about six hours you’ll face Italy in the last day of the 2010 Six Nations.

Please win.

I know you’ve had a tough tournament. Some, like my dad, might even say you’ve been bloody terrible since the first game against England and should be strung up like the bunch of hopeless buggers you are.

But I’m not my dad. Which in many ways is good, ‘cos if I was I’d be 72 and bald. I still have faith in you. Yes, there are times when I wonder if you’re actively trying to give the ball away and occasions when I honestly believe you […]

And now for the good news

IRELAND beat England to end the Saes’ Grand Slam hopes. Never did I think I’d be happy for Ireland but this is just what I needed after losing to France yesterday. And to top it all, Italy - Italy - beat Scotland. Right, I’m off for […]

In the office for Wales v France

HERE two hours early to listen (it’s noon here). Please let us win.

The BBC Radio Wales team are as biased as ever. Wonderful.

Sent out an email to everyone: I apologise in advance for any screaming/shouting/swearing/crying I might do during the game. And if I try to sing, feel free to throw things at me.

The roof’s shut at the Millennium Stadium, the acoustics make it sound like I’m there.

Some arsehole just shouted during the minute’s silence and I actually said “SHUTUP” out loud…

Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is beautiful as ever. Yes, I have tears in my eyes.

Feck the BBC - the Radio […]

That was close...

DEPENDING on your point of view, we either scraped by Scotland with a last-minute try or engineered the finest comeback since beating France in 2005 to win 31-24. According to my dad Wales were “bloody terrible, terrible” and he was “amazed they bloody won” as they played “bloody terrible rugby” and were “a bunch of useless buggers”. Why my dad isn’t a commentator for BBC Radio Wales is beyond […]
